Thomas asks…
christians, is it true that the world only had one common language before the tower of babel was built?
Archaeologists examining the remains of the city of Babylon have found what appears to be the foundation of the tower: a square of earthen embankments some three-hundred feet on each side. The tower’s most splendid incarnation was probably under King Nebuchadnezzar II who lived from 605-562 BC. The King rebuilt the tower to stand 295 feet high. According to an inscription made by the king the tower was constructed of “baked brick enameled in brilliant blue.” The terraces of the tower may have also been planted with flowers and trees

This is a list of languages by first written accounts which consists of the approximate dates for the first written accounts that are known for various languages.
Because of the way languages change gradually, it is usually impossible to pinpoint when a given language began to be spoken with any precision. In many cases, some form of the language had already been spoken (and even written) considerably earlier than the dates of the earliest extant samples provided here.
There are also various claims regarding still-undeciphered scripts without wide acceptance, which, if substantiated, would push backward the first attestation of certain languages.
A written record may encode a stage of a language corresponding to an earlier time — either as a result of oral tradition, or because the earliest source is a copy of an older manuscript that was lost. Oral tradition of epic poetry may typically bridge a few centuries, but in rare cases, over a millennium. An extreme case is the Vedic Sanskrit of the Rigveda: the earliest parts of this text are dated to ca. 1500 BC, while the oldest known manuscript dates to the 11th century AD, corresponding to a gap of approximately 2,500 years.
For languages that have developed out of a known predecessor, dates provided here are subject to conventional terminology. For example, Old French developed gradually out of Vulgar Latin, and the Oaths of Strasbourg (842) listed are the earliest text that is classified as “Old French”. Similarly, Danish and Swedish separate from common Old East Norse in the 12th century, while Norwegian separates from Old West Norse around 1300.

What does the Christian Church teach concerning the beard?
Bradobritie – According to Orthodox teaching, one of the major sins. In the Old Believers, it is often referred to as zakonoprestupnym. Bradobritie forbidden in the Old Testament (Leviticus 19: 27; 2 Samuel 10: 1, 1 Chronicles, 19: 4), it is prohibited and rules 6 ecumenical council (see the interpretation of rule 96 Zonaras and Greek Helmsman Pidalion ) and patristic writings (works of St. Epiphanius of Salamis, St. Cyril of Alexandria, Theodoret the Blessed, holy? Sidor Pilusiota). Condemnation bradobritiyu also contained in the Greek books (Nikon Chernyya Mountains, sl. 37; Nomocanon, etc. 174). The Holy Fathers say that hedge beard thus expresses dissatisfaction out? His appearance, which the Creator gave to man, from a desire to “fix” of God.
During the Great Schism in 1054 rounds. Constantinople Michael Kerullary in a message to the patriarch. Antioch Peter accused the Latins among other heresies, and that they “ostrizayut beard.” The same accusation confirms Russian Reverend Theodosius of Kiev in the “Discourse on the Christian faith and Latin.” Ancient Russian Orthodox strictly prohibited bradobritie, seeing it as an external sign of heresy, apostasy from orthodoxy. Maxim the Greek writing (ch. 137): “If the curse deviation from the commandments of God like a did not hear? Them in the sacred hymns, the same oath to be exterminating his own beard with a razor.” Stoglavy council said that: “… not to shave his mustache and Brad did not postrigati; takovyya bou legion, the Orthodox, but latynskaya and heretical traditions of the Greek king Constantine Kovalina, and about this apostolic and patristic ?????? rules prohibit and deny; usually the holy Apostle says: if someone shaves his beard and pass away tacos, not worthy of him sluzhiti or Prayers for him parlor or communion bread, nor sveschi to bring it to the church, with the wrong bou da reckon, from the heretic bo se navykosha. The same rule 96 of the cathedral in Trulli Polatnem of ostrizanii Brad …”.
In the era of resistance bradobritiyu Time of Troubles, as the Latin tradition, strongly reinforced. In Russian Potrebnike 1639 and the Missal in 1647 was placed sermon: “Do not shave the mustache and Brad not postrigati. In Pain? Th potrebnike said: “The curse bogonenavidimago bludolyubnago image and charm do? Egubitelnaya and dizziness heresy hedgehog ostrizati shaving and beard” (l. 600 ob.). Kirilova book (Chapter 26) and book about faith (Ch. 28) also called bradobritie Latin heresy.
Old Believers refused to shave their beards, even under pressure from the government of Emperor. Peter I, preferring to pay a special fee for the beard and bear the burden of double taxation.
And to this day Old Believers firmly hold the patristic tradition.

Jill answers:
Christian Orthodox Priests usually Do as in Bible. Russian/ Greek/ Serbian and all Orthodox Churches I have ever been To ,, ( The Priests have beards)
In the Apostolic Constitution, ALL Christian men who were able to were supposed to grow facial hair. It has to do with accepting manliness – women and children don’t have facial hair, but men do.
“Men may not destroy the hair of their beards and unnaturally change the form of a man. For the Law says, “You will not deface your beards.” For God the Creator has made this decent for women, but has determined that it is unsuitable for men.” Apostolic Constitutions (compiled c.390, E) 7.392. (1)
Saint Clement of Alexandria had a lot to say about this –
How womanly it is for one who is a man to comb himself and shave himself with a razor, for the sake of fine effect, and to arrange his hair at the mirror, shave his cheeks, pluck hairs out of them, and smooth them!…For God wished women to be smooth and to rejoice in their locks alone growing spontaneously, as a horse in his mane. But He adorned man like the lions, with a beard, and endowed him as an attribute of manhood, with a hairy chest–a sign of strength and rule.” St. Clement of Alexandria, 2.275
“This, then, is the mark of the man, the beard. By this, he is seen to be a man. It is older than Eve. It is the token of the superior nature….It is therefore unholy to desecrate the symbol of manhood, hairiness.” St. Clement of Alexandria, 2.276
“It is not lawful to pluck out the beard, man’s natural and noble adornment.” St. Clement of Alexandria, 2.277
This is one reason why facial hair is more common in Greece and Eastern Europe than in Western Europe/America.

Sandra asks…
Colon????????????
Will a coloonocopy show a toxic colon? Or is there toxins and buid up they will not see?

Jill answers:
That’s what you get them for. It shows any inflammation as well as polyps and those kinds of things. If there are toxins in your colon, it will be inflamed in that area. There is no chance that you can have invisible toxins.

What is the best colon cleanse on the market?

Jill answers:
Consumption of fast foods and foods that lack lots of fiber. This is the single major reason behind most occurrences of constipation.
Of course with other exceptions also..I was also in need of one such product and I found this and trust me it is going wonders for me, so your search should end here, its simply the best thing available in market right now. Follow this link –

What is the most safe and effective way to cleanse your colon?
I would like to cleanse my colon but I want a safe as well as effective way to do it. I have seen pictures of peoples stools after they have used colon cleansers and I couldn’t believe all the massive release of yearly buildup shown in those pictures. I would also like to expel any and all buildup in my colon as well.

Jill answers:
A healthy diet with plenty of fiber should make colon cleansing unnecessary. A person who eats lots of fast food, iceberg lettuce and no fruits or vegetables may need occaisonal hydrotherapy.

Can I do candida and colon cleanses naturally without buying expensive supplements?
I would seriously like to do whole-body cleanses but supplements are expensive and I don’t really trust a lot that ar on the market today? Does anyone know of natural ways to do candida and colon cleanses?

Jill answers:
I read alternative therapy books a lot, and from them I’ve learned a few things:
1) Candida is a nasty conditions that causes a lot of problems.
2) Most doctors don’t awknowledge that it exists (and say it’s in your head etc).
3) It’s really difficult to treat.
One of my friends came up to me and told me that she had candida, and explained how it was messing her up and that the doctors she’d seen hadn’t really done s**t (or perscribed anything that work). I asked her if she’d tried fixing her diet and not eating sugar. She said she had somewhat, and it helped a little, but it didn’t really make a difference. She also had eaten probiotics, which helped a bit.
I’d recently finished reading a book on oxygen therapies which said candida is exteremely difficult to cure, regardless of what you do, but hydrogen peroxide seemed to actually do the trick very quickly.
They advocated intravenous injection (which is a pain to do), but I thought drinking it might work as well since candida hangs out in the gut. I had some lying around and I’d used it for other stuff, so I figured I had nothing to lose by trying it. Neither of us thought it would work.
I checked back with autumn in a few days, and she said that she didnt think it would work, but she started noticing changes after about 3 days, and within 10 most of her symptoms had gone away (in 2 weeks she said she felt like she as 95% of where she had been before, and “wow I can’t believe how much candida messed me up”).
At some point, she lost the peroxide I gave her, and then went for about a week without it, at which point she noticed she got a lot worse (to about 50% of where she had been before she started, and said “I hope I don’t have to use this stuff for the rest of my life.”). We talked about it, and I theorized that the peroxide would probably need longer to completely kill the candida, but it might also be necessary to inject it to get some of the candida hangingou out in the bloodstream outside of the gut (in all the case studies I’d seen where peroxide worked, it was done intravenously, which we did not yet want to do).
A bit later, while still not having peroxide, she came across a drink called kefir (another strong probiotic one), and started using it. She said that it got her to the last push of 99.9%, and that she planned to use that from now on, and has been fine ever since.
Total sucesses with candida are very rare (a lot of these herbal things people suggest might work on one person, but never have consistent success since the condition is hard to treat), but I thought I’d share that example since I’m certain it happened (first hand experience), and I’d advise trying something similar.
Candida normally occurs when you have too many things in your guy that feed the fungus (ie sugar), or your stomach bacteria are supressed and can’t contain the fungus. The latter commonly happens when people are overperscribed antiobiotics (which happens a lot since doctors use antiobiotics zealously). Ie, it’s very common for people to get a candida infection immediately after being treated for pneumonia.
In our approach to treating it, we first killed off most of the candida with peroxide. Then once it was mostly gone, we put a lot of friendly bacteria in to put the balance in the gut back to where it should be. I don’t think doing the latter will work if the Candida population is there in full force to begin with.
As far as hydrogen peroxide goes, the stuff is harmless good for you if a few safey measures are followed:
1) It has to be in a very low concentration (if you drink 30% you will most likely die and it burns skin if you touch it, whereas .05% helps your health a lot).
2) It can’t have toxic additives in it (most peroxide sold does)
3) It needs to be drank away from meals (when you eat the stomach acids and proteins in gut can turn it into OH-, which is bad for you).
The procedure she followed was very simple.
1) Get a little bit of food grade 35% hydrogen peroxide* from me (you can buy it online), and an eyedropper.
*It should be stored in the freezer if not used.
2) Put 1 drop of 35% in a glass of water and drink it on the first day as far away from meals as possible.
2) 2 drops the next day
3) Keep on increasing* until it feels like you’ve done as much as feels comfortable (10 is the absolute max, she settled at 7).
Some people increase at a slower rate, such as 1 drop for a week, then 2 for the next instead of 1 per day.
4) once it feels peroxide has cleaned you out, switch to kefir (you cannot use both at the same time, since peroxide will kill the recently added probiotics)
I’m not an expert on probiotics, but I do know their quality greatly varies from source to source, so you need to make sure you get a good brand. All I can say is that Kaffir seems to work well. If you don’t want to deal with this, you can also just keep on using peroxide, or consult a doctor that works with oxygen therapies (and say can give you intravenous injections).
Sometimes when you use peroxide, it will detoxify your system, and cause a lot of crap that was stored in your to come out quickly. This can be unpleasant for a few days (toxic flush syndrome), but once it passes you feel a lot better than you did before.
Everything I said can also be done with ozone, and ozone colonics for instance work really well (as does drinking ozonated water). However, I do not have personal experience with either and both are more expensive than peroxide (and you asked for cheaper approaches). Oxygen is really good for getting the body to purge and flush stuff out, and if you follow a peroxide regimen it will most likely get a lot out of your system.
Anyhow, I hope this helps. Candida is very difficult to cure and has a profound effect on people’s lives, but hopefully if you follow this you’ll be able to get better. Considering how much it helped my friend, I figure it’s my duty to pass the knowledge on.
*Eating foods with a lot of fiber also helps clean the colon out.

What is a good colon cleanse recipe?
If anyone knows of a RECIPE that includes:
1. ingredients
2. amounts/servings
3. step by step instructions
4. other relevant details like precautions etc.
I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
**I have been reading through yahoo answers and websites and apparently people are having a hard time with the term “recipe“.
**Please don’t tell me about websites, products or enemas as I have researched and am not interested in that.
**It’s not for constipation as I am very regular (because I don’t eat junk).
**I am curious to see if a cleanse will help with dark circles under my eyes. Thank you, thank you, thank you =D
I understand that some may not agree that a colon cleanse is useful.
Does someone have a recipe? with ingredients and instructions? anyone?
Oh yeah, the colon naturally does this, but our diets are not what our bodies “naturally” need. Even the vegies and friuts are full of “unnatural” things. & I only started eating better a couple years ago. Before that I ate a bunch of manufactured mystery food, school lunch-hello?
again, recipe please, and thank you

Jill answers:
Dark circles under your eyes could be due to dehydration or possibly food intolerances ………. Try ditching the milk and dairy products for a few days and see if that changes anything…….. I’ll tell you right now, if i eat even a taste of anything at all containing milk and dairy i get huge black shiners under my eyes the next morning …. Coupled of course with the ghastly stomach aches and puffy bags under my eyes ….. But i digress…….. The food you put in your mouth can have a vast impact on how you feel and how your body performs …… Which, clearly, you already know…….. Ditch the dairy products and pump up your leafy greens like broccolli, kale, chard, celery, buk choy as they are all rich in calcium and magnesium and are far easier for your body to assimilate than milk and dairy products anyway.
Other symptoms of lactose intolerance are achy bones and insomnia due to your calcium supplies being inhibited, irritability and moodiness, headaches and migraines, acid reflux, constipation, bloating, allergic shiners as mentioned above, ribbony and stringy shaped stools, mood swings ….. Nasty ones too……… ;0)
oh, the only recipe i know of for cleansing your colon is the natural way mate, the way God intended ………. The more wholegrains and cereals like brown rice, leafy and green vegies and fresh filtered water you consume …… The larger and easier to pass your motions will be ……. Get the crunchy vegies and fruits into you like celery apples and carrotts……. Acts like a broom and sweeps the intestines clean….. Pinpoint food intolerances too ………. And bounce with energy and vitality.
Peace baby

colon cleanse????????????????
i took an epsom salt recipe to clean out my colon and had only two apples and a lot of water today and about 20 minutes after taking it i threw up 2 times. can anyone tell me what i should do or why this is happening? thank you.

Jill answers:
You likely poisoned yourself. Call your doctor or ER and explain what you took to see if you need medical attention.
Colon cleansing has recently gained popularity to detox and cleanse the system of built-up toxins and intestinal parasites.
Environmental toxicity and years of eating processed foods eventually results in weight gain and toxic colin build-up. When digestion and elimination decreases, waste accumulates in the colon and toxins are reabsorbed into the bloodstream, polluting organs and tissues. An herbal colon cleanse detox can help, without harming yourself.
Certain herbs work to help loosen colon contents without upsetting natural fluid balance or mineral content. Bearberry, Plantago psyllium, Marshmallow, and Chinese cinnamon work to promote natural and gentle peristalsis, soften stool matter and support the process of regular toxin and waste removal, while assisting in overall colonic health.
Dandelion, Fennel and Pelargonium reniforme can help cleanse the system, rejuvenate liver functioning and support the body’s natural ability to eliminate toxins. Natural colon cleanse products leave you feeling full of vitality, just as nature intended.

does anyone know a natural powerful colon cleanser recipe???
i have bin living in egypt for the past 5 years due to my husbands work and i was lookig in international pharmacies for a natural colon clenaser… but non of the pharmacies have anything like that… so could anyone give me a natural powerful recipe for a good colon cleansing??

Jill answers:
You can do a salt water flush. It is actually something that you do as a daily part of the Master Cleanse fast, however you can do this by itself.
All you need to do is in the evening before you go to bed drink a cup of herbal laxative tea which is primarily senna leaf tea. Then first thing when you wake up you drink down 32 oz of water with 2 tsp of Celtic gray sea salt. With in an hour everything will flush out of your system. For whatever reason the salt water stays intact and is not absorbed by the body so it passes through the stomach, intestines and colon flushing them out.
I have done the master cleanse several times and this is an everyday part of that, so I know it works….its hard getting down the salt water, but it works.

George asks…
Any one familiar with C.Diff?
My Mom had a bowel resection in June this year. She seemed fine after surgery, then about 4-5 days after discharge she developed severe diarrhea, nausea and vomitting. The surgeon put her on Flagyl and she really did not improve, but tried to put on a brave face. She got readmitted in early July because she could not keep even water down and had lost so much weight. She was tested for C.Diff a number of times and tested negative, but was treated as if she had C.Diff. Her symptoms did not improve and a colonscopy revealed severe Ulcerative Colitis, but still negative for C.Diff. She was placed on Prednisone, Asocol and Flagyl and sent home. She did not improve and was readmitted 10 days later.
Next admission, she tested positive for C.Diff and responded to treatment with Vancomycin. She was sent home with a step down regimne of oral Vanco and Prednisone. She seemed to be doing okay, not great, but better than before.
She completed her course of Vanco and tapering off of Prednisone when she developed an Upper Respiratory Infection. The docs were hesitant to put her on any other antibiotics, but did not want the URI to turn into pneumonia. Mom also has COPD,to make things more complex…She was put on Avalox for 8 days, one dose daily. That was when she developed all the signs of the C.Diff again.
So…my question is this,if anyone knows…What are some alternative treatments for resistant C.Diff?I have seen that severe, recurrant cases have had surgical intervention, but she has already had 18 inches of her bowel resected.I asked her GI team and they said that surgery is a last resort, which I would agree with. .Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Sorry for the long post, but I felt that more info might be helpful in this awful illness….

Jill answers:
C. Diff is short for Clostridium difficile; an anaerobic bacteria that can cause severe intestinal problems such as diarrhea, and tissue damage to the intestines. Colitis, toxic megacolon, intestinal perforation and in some cases, death.
It is a nosocomial (hospital acquired infection). It mostly occurs in patients who’ve taken antibiotics over a long period of time. The normal flora is killed off and the C.diff flourishes if it gets established.
The bacteria produce 2 toxins: Toxin A: an enterotoxin and Toxin B: a cytotoxin.
I’m including a website (Center for Disease Control); it has much more information that I can put in this space. The first article (a .pdf file) from Shea on C. Diff associated diarrhea and colitis is a good place to start.
We see C.diff in my lab about 2-5 times per month. We’ve done a good job in preventing its spread by strictly enforcing good handwashing techniques with the nurses and nursing assistants.
Hope she gets better soon!

John asks…
What is the likelihood that I have C-Diff?
My 9 month old son just tested positive for the bacteria infection called C-Diff. He was carrying this infection internally for several weeks before my husband and I ever knew. He’s been on the antibiotic Flagyl for about a week and half. I have tried to keep everything in the house squeaky clean, so not to spread the bacteria, however tonight I have had personal scare. I used the bathroom, and there was blood in my stool. Not like a hemroid blood, more liquidy and mixed with the feces. I’ve had a little diarrhea and some nausea, but chalked it up to a fluke. Since I found blood in my stool I’m concerned I might also have the bacteria infection C-Diff. If you have has this, or know something about the bacteria, symptoms, or treatments, please let me know. I’ll take all the information I can get. Thanks so much.
Thanks for the help.

Jill answers:
C-diff is very contagious and it’s hard to kill. You know those alcohol hand cleaners (hand sanitizers)? C-diff is one bacteria that those don’t kill. Considering you clean your son’s bottom when he goes poop, I’d think it’s pretty likely you got it. Usually C-diff poop smells really bad, worse than normal poop. Frequently you have nausea at the beginning of a C-diff infection. I’d call your doctor in the morning and get tested and get on treatment. C-diff is treated with Flagyl or oral vancomycin if the Flagyl doesn’t work adequately.

Chris asks…
Do you agree that the NHS have done more harm than good?
They’ve killed so many people using public money and covered it up using public money. How many have been killed through neglect? How many died because of being over-dosed on antibiotics to “cure” MRSA picked up at hospital, leading to C-diff, resulting in diarrhoea resulting in death through starvation and/or dehydration. How many stroke victims died from falls because no one was available to assist them with their toilet needs? How many have died because of undetected heart disease after reporting palpitations and getting no treatment? I know many.

Jill answers:
No. I agree with you partly but think of how many lives they save. And as much as we want to be cynical, they do save lives.

Susan asks…
Can some one help me?
HI, I am a 24 year old postgrad student. I had a UTI like symptons with testicular pain 3 months ago. I went to see my doctor and they performed UTI test and couldn’t detect anything. This was done 3 times in 3 days intervals. My symptoms were there and they prescribed Ciprofloxicillian for 7 days. This drug wasn’t very effective. After 10 days of this course i had urine culture and complete urine examination. Urine culture came back negitive whereas there were occasional bacteria and WBCs were detected in microscopic examination. At the same time i developed abdominal pain and went to see Gastroenterologist and he prescribed mebeverine and Flagell (anti- ameboic drug). I took this for seven days but wasn’t very useful. He suggested me to have Colonoscopy and also consult urologist. Then i went to urologist and had an ultrasouns scan and it showed thickning of bladder wall then he prescribed me Doxycycline (7 days) and Nitrofurintoin (2 weeks). This treatment seemed to work but wan’t 100%. I went to USS again after 4 days of that treatment and my bladder apeared normal. But over the time i am getting joint and muscle pain with water diarrhea on and off. I had LFTS, RFTS, CBCs and TFT’s they all normal. Complete stool examination was also fine. Sandra asks…
Can someone provide medical advice?
Mark asks…
How old was Daphne Rubin-Vega when RENT opened on Broadway?

Jill answers:
Daphne Rubin-Vega was born November 18, 1969
Rent opened on Broadway on April 29, 1996
She would have been 26 years old.

Lisa asks…
Who hits higher notes, Rosario Dawson or Daphne Rubin-Vega?
I’m looking into getting sheet music for Rent and since I aspire to play Mimi (If Rent comes back to broadway for a reprise) I wanna know if I should get the movie version or the broadway version. I’m an alto, but can still hit some fairly high notes so I would like to know who’s vocal range would be easier for me to match, Daphne‘s or Rosario’s.

Jill answers:
I don’t know, but Daphne has a higher tone, I think.

Chris asks…
Who do you think is a better Mimi, Rosario Dawson, or Daphne Rubin-Vega ?
I personally like Rosario Dawson, she is a much better Mimi, although Daphne Rubin-Vega is the original, Rosario’s voice sounds MUCH better, Daphne‘s voice is all raspery and hoarse, I hate her broadway versions of the RENT songs she performs, Ex. Light my Candle, Out Tonight, With out you, Rosario’s voice is also much more soothing, i don’t care what anybody says about how Daphne was the original, ann how she was in other famous broadway plays and all, ugh, i’m tired of hearing that! All in All i think Rosario did EXTREMLEY WELL as Mimi, and i’m also glad Daphne was pregnant during the production of the movie…..ROSARIO DAWSON IS MUUUCCCCCHHHHH BETTERRRRRRR!

Jill answers:
Daphne.. She did that role every night for how ever many years… There is no doubt in my mind that she was better vocally. I would be interested to know how many people who voted that dawson was better actually saw Daphne perform?

Betty asks…
Who do you like better as Mimi (Daphne Rubin-Vega or Rosario Dawson)?
I really like both, but personally, I think Daphne is better FOR THE PART OF MIMI. Otherwise, I think I like Rosario better, just cause of her voice:)

Jill answers:
Daphne!

Ruth asks…
Why didn’t daphne rubin vega do the movie rent?
she was in the production on broadway but she didnt do the movie and no body seems to know why….

Jill answers:
She was fifteen years older than the 19-year-old character. While that works on stage, it would have been really obvious on the screen. Also, she was pregnant at the time of filming.
