Steve Harvey’s Detox Diet to Lose 21 Pounds in 21 Days

Steve Harvey, host of Morning Show, recently announced that he’s planning to follow a 21-days detox diet to lose weight. He has chosen Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox known as “Lose 21 Pounds in 21 Days”.  This detox diet was created by nurse Roni Deluz and is known to be a fasting diet where the dieter can only eat soups and juices for 21 days and, as a result, lose 21 pounds.

This means that for three weeks, Harvey will only drink fruit and vegetables juices to lose a pound a day. And what’s more, the stars’ fans will be able to check his progress and make sure he’s not cheating on the official website of the weight loss program, where a special section has been created for Harvey’s diet.

While the 53-year-old already made his decision to embark on this weight loss diet, nutritionists don’t believe he’s made the right choice, since this is not a long term solution to shed the pounds.

“You can’t live on a diet like this because it simply does not have adequate calories or protein. Not only does protein make you feel full longer, but solid food makes you full longer,” said Anne Fletcher, MS, RD. “How long can you stick with something that deprives you of so much?”

Moreover, celebrity nutritionist Christine Avanti says that this detox diet, that includes fruit drinks, can cause blood sugar to increase and slow down the metabolism. Avanti classifies it a failure, because, as she says, chances are that the dieter will gain the weight back once he starts eating regular food again.
