Bethenny Frankel famously sold her Skinnygirl Margarita brand to Jim Beam for a kajilion dollars (more about $120 million,) and now she has a new product (presumably for the morning after a Skinnygirl Margarita party: The Skinnygirl Daily Cleanse.
Despite popular associations with the word “cleanse” this product (which is basically packets of fortified lemonade that you mix with water or juice every day) is not a detoxification or quick weight loss gimmick like the Master Cleanse. These lemonade packets are not meant to be meal replacements (kudos to Bethenny for not going down that road), it’s more like a supplement system with fiber, aloe, dandelion, and other ingredients that are supposed to keep you digestive tract working smoothly.

As with everything in the “Skinnygirl” brand, this product is a simple solution to a common problem. This product consists of individual green lemonade packets that you put into a glass of water at night and/or in the morning. It gently cleanses the system on a daily basis while replenishing and restoring the system with vibrant greens. On a day-to-day basis, depending upon how I feel, I alter whether I take it at night or during the day, and whether I take it once per day or more.
The important distinction here is that this product is one that you can use every day and it “keeps things moving” while removing toxins from your system (detoxing). I’ve always suffered from constipation, yet I find most fiber products too harsh.
There’s often a lot of talk about “detoxing” like it’s something you only do when you interrupt your normal routine with strange eating habits or behaviors (like living off of cayenne pepper, steaming yourself in a sauna while wrapped in seaweed, and having your colon flushed out with a giant hose.) You are actually detoxing every minute of every day, it’s just that sometimes your body does it better than other times. There are many things we eat and drink (like trans fats, preservatives, and alcohol) that stress our liver and other organs trying to get rid of all the toxins, and there are other food and drinks (like fiber, lemon) that help things along. It’s not just the “bad” foods that create toxins, basically everything you eat, creates some sort of “toxin” as the body breaks it down. But we’re designed to get rid of it pretty efficiently, that’s why we poop.
