Any natural alternative treatments for a cancerous tumor in the colon?

Golf ball sized tumor in the large intestine of someone I know. History of precancerous polyps.
Normally healthy individual. What do you suggest, and do you know of any successful cases?

Certainly you should get a professional diagnoses and recommendations from an oncologist.

In the early stages, colon cancer is one of the most curable cancers using mainstream treatments – up to 95% successful in fact.. In the later stages – it is the second most deadly. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancer in America (lung cancer is the first). Contrary to popular belief, only 15 percent of colon cancer patients must have a permanent colostomy.

If the colon cancer is in an early stage there should be no need to seek alternatives with such a high conventional success rate – though certainly it would be a good idea to make dietary and lifestyle changes to help eliminate the cancer and guard against its return.

If the colon cancer is in the latter stages and/or if conventional treatment is not successful you may wish to do your homework and consider complimentary or alternative measures.

EDIT – Thank you Rhianna (and I never thought I would say that – lol). In general I believe that people should get a professional diagnosis for any condition, especially ones they are not sure of and most especially of all ones that might be serious. None are more serious than cancer, and, as is the case with other serious or potentially serious conditions, it is best to know as precisely as possible exactly what you are dealing with and what the stage of progression is.

Mainstream doctors are the best in the world at diagnosis, especially when they take the time to bring all their diagnostic skills and training to bear. In that regard they beat any and all alternative health practitioners resoundingly.

Though I obviously have concerns about chemotherapy, it and other mainstream treatments have had notable success against some cancers and early stage colon cancer is a prime example. It is not my intention to direct people away from mainstream therapies which have had such success and it is especially not my intention to direct anyone away from a professional diagnosis.

I try to give advice based on the best information I have researched and had experience with – and I reject and discourage a great many alternative treatments. Yes, my opinions are biased according to my personal experience and beliefs, but that is pretty much true of everyone. What I know is that when mainstream treatments have failed, or when people are determined to forego mainstream treatments (which is the case in the majority of instances when people seek my advice), my advice has had wonderful results in many instances regardless of what others may choose to believe.

Wow Tony are you OK? I'm actually going to give you a TU for that.

As Tony correctly points out (can't believe I just said that) when colorectal cancer is caught early, there is a high chance of a cure, but the more advanced the cancer the less chance any treatment will be curative. Your friend needs to see a cancer specialist. Depending on the stage and spread of the cancer, chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy are options. Treatment depends on various factors and is specific to each individual.

Your friend needs can discuss all the pros and cons with the specialist who is privy to his/her case. This is not an instance to pursue AltMed.

Over the past 10 years, the prognosis for people with colorectal cancer has improved. Without treatment, such cancer is more than likely to grow and spread to other structures.

Data in 2009 from the National Cancer Intelligence Network showed that people diagnosed at an early stage have more than a 9 in 10 chance of surviving the disease although at the moment only 1 in 7 people with colorectal cancer are diagnosed at stage A as the disease often produces no symptoms initially. http://www.ncin.org.uk/docs/090623-NCIN-…

If the cancer has already grown through the wall of the colon or spread to other parts of the body, there is less chance of a cure, but treatment can slow the progression of the cancer, prolonging life as much as possible.

First of all, I wouldn't call someone with a golfball-sized tumor a healthy individual, but never mind.

I strongly urge you to have your friend or family member see a qualified oncologist without delay. Follow his/her advice as to tumor removal or chemotherapy. Then, while following the advice of your oncologist you can see a licensed naturopathic physician [ND] to provide complementary treatment help deal with the effects of cancer treatment.

There are a very, very few NDs who claim to treat cancer. I have heard miracle stories but I cannot tell you of anyone that I know personally who has been treated by these few people. If there are any such people in your area, your oncologist will have heard about them. Ask him/her.

VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE — NEVER LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU TO ESCHEW ALL CONVENTIONAL CANCER TREATMENT IN FAVOR OF WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO. THIS IS THE SIGN OF A QUACK AND CAN BE VERY DEADLY. ANY REAL PHYSICIAN WILL ONLY WORK WITH AND IN CONNECTION TO YOUR ONCOLOGIST.

As everyone mentions, see your oncologist. You need to have them direct you on the proper treatment.
Once getting that treatment, you can always find a qualified Natural Health Practitioner (Herbalist, Homeopath, Naturopath with extra education in botanical medicine or homeopathy) for help with side effects, however you need to see the oncologist first off. The others will provide complimentary aid to the oncologists treatment.

Alternative treatments?

The alternative treatments will almost invariably prove ineffective, and lead to death.

There are effective treatments for cancer these days with modern medicine.

"Normally healthy individual?" Well, that individual is not normally healthy anymore. Treatment is essential, to prevent the cancer from growing and spreading—and soon!

Yes, there are natural treatments for this condition. These websites may be of assistance.

EDIT – Natural Practitioner – YOU are a natural practitioner ( scratching head ) ? If so, I wonder how you manage to pay your bills, much of the advice you dispense here ( and elsewhere ) pretty much echoes the drug industry party line. Perhaps this is some poisoning of the well venture ( against alternative medicine ) you are engaged in here?

Do not go alternative for this condition. Take Natpractitioner's sound advice – here you have a naturopath telling you to treat this conventionally.

EDIT: Tony – are you feeling ok?

As mentioned, time really is important here. You NEED to get your friend to a properly qualified oncologist asap. There is not enough time to mess around 'experimenting' with your friend's life.

While positive thinking, a very healthy diet, and prayer might all help, nothing has the success rate of conventional medicine and treatment.
