How do I detox off alcohol? ?
I am a heavy drinker and have been for years now. I know I can use Valium to detox off alcohol. My question is how much, how often and for how long? I have no insurance and can't afford detox and can't really afford to spend a week in detox either.

You really need to talk to a doctor about this – alcohol and valium are a bad combination. You may not need to spend a week in rehab, but you need to at least talk to a doctor once to find out what you are getting yourself into, and how to do it safely.
no need to "detox" just stop drinking – you will feel like H*ll for a while but it is only a feeling you might get the DTs as well but no permanent harm will occur , same for heroin etc but the knowledge you can feel better if you drink/inject will always be there
All I know is that in the Lillian Roth story, I'll Cry Tomorrow, she had the DTs. I don't see how it can be done withiit medical support.
