Is colonic irrigation safe for teenagers?
i'm 13, gonna be 14 in june, and I i have canida overgrowth. Family friends recommended colonic irrigation, so i just wanted to know, is colonic irrigation safe for a 13 year old?
there is no regulation for how the equipment is to be used. the "treatment" itself can cause problems like: injury, infection, dead cell build up, bacteria/chemical imbalances(how ironic), unhealthy water/salt imbalance, repeated treatment can lead to nutrition problems as well as anemia, and heart problems.
its not really safe, and you should be going to a real doctor if you have health problems, not relying on word of mouth or people who are in the business of selling you things.
you must remember that just because someone says "this treats that" doesn't mean it actually works. in real medicine we require experimental proof that treatments work. treatments that either fail to provide proof, or are never actually tested, usually end up as "alternative medicine". your body is your life if you want to live a long and healthy, place your trust in the people who follow scientific standards, not those that mock or turn a blind eye to science, for if you trust them all you will be doing is giving people money for things that don't really help you.
Best thing you can do for your colon is to eat lots of yogurt and fiber. Drink lots of water. Then let nature take its course. The yogurt helps maintain a healthy bacterial level in your body. Fiber will clean you out and your body needs a lot of water.
I agree with the other people who answered you. Do not start trying out new things without first consulting a doctor. That's good advice from adult to adult but when your body is still developing, it's extremely important that you talk to your doctor first.
Personally, I believe if we were meant to "wash out" that part of our body, it would be a lot easier to do so and much more comfortable. Then again, I also believe that our index finger is the same size as our nose hole because we are supposed to pick the boogies out. So maybe you should ask a doctor and not a bunch of strangers on Yahoo. I leave you with this thought….

These two ahead of me really hit it. Ok, way back in the past I was suffering with blocked up sinuses. Having been in a yoga ashram I thought I'd do a high colonic. Yep! My nose opened wide also my ubiquitous depression went away. True! But, (or butt) , your *** is a one way motion that nature meant to be. In a medical emergency colonics are ok. Listen to the girl who said, "Yogurt and fiber."
