Sgt. 1st Class Jose Palomino from Newburgh has re-enlisted to continue service with the New York Army National Guard, 101st Signal Battalion.

Army Pfc. Jesse L. Clune has graduated from One Station Unit Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training. Clune is the son of Joann and Pat Clune of Port Jervis and graduated in 2004 from Port Jervis High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Kyle M. Snyder, son of Christine A. and Arthur R. Snyder of Hurley, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Snyder is a 2007 graduate of Kingston High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Joshua H. Ferraris graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Ruth A. Hermida of Pine Bush and is a 2006 graduate of Orchard Park High School.

Cadet Patrick Andrus Laird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Laird of Monroe, entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on June 28 and successfully completed six weeks of cadet basic training, also referred to as “Beast Barracks.” He began classes Aug. 16. Laird, who was a Varsity 845 first team all-star and New York All-State football player as a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School last year, is currently playing JV on the Army football team. He plans to graduate from West Point in 2014 and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Brandon M. Gunnels graduated from the armor officer basic course at Fort Knox, Ky. Gunnels, a cavalry scout, is assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 16th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Knox, Ky. He has served in the military for one year. He is the son of Marc B. and Caroline M. Gunnels of New Windsor. He graduated in 2005 from Cornwall High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Auburn University in Alabama.

More than 80 New York Army National Guard soldiers recently completed training alongside some 1,400 participants from 40 European and NATO partner nations in Europe’s pre-eminent command, control, communications, and computer systems exercise. The military training, held at Grafenwoehr, Germany, from Sept. 2-16, was to improve military communications and networking connectivity. Participating in the deployment from the 101st Signal Battalion were Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Bien of Pine Bush, Staff Sgt. Francisco J. Colon of Middletown, Sgt. James Fleischhauer of West Point, Pfc. Matthew Leslie of Sparrowbush, Spec. Jennifer Nicola of Wallkill, Spec. Paul Redner of Plattekill, 1st Lt. Jon Santana of Highland, and Sgt. Kristen Walker of Kingston.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Ted S. Henderson, son of Donna and Timothy Henderson of Otisville, recently reported for duty with Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152, Marine Aircraft Group 36, Okinawa, Japan. Henderson is a 2006 graduate of Warwick Valley High School and joined the Marine Corps in February 2009.

Phillip D. Mertine, son of Jolie Jacobs of Greentown, Pa., and David C. Mertine, of Kingston, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the delayed entry program at Navy Recruiting District, Pittsburgh, Pa. The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life. Mertine will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy’s Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2008 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School of Hawley, Pa.

Kevin Wippel, a PIne Bush High School and SUNY Cobleskill graduate, completed the U.S. Coast Guard training camp on Sept. 17 at Cape May, N.J. He is the son of Shirley and Paul Wippel of Pine Bush, and the grandson of Emil and Sharon Schneider and Frank and Carole Wippel, all formerly of Pine Bush. Kevin is stationed in Kings Point, Long Island.

Navy Seaman Recruit Christopher G. Clemens, son of Geralyn P. Clemens of Middletown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Air Force Airman Kyle S. Wulf graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Iza and Hans Wulf of Bloomingburg, and is a 2008 graduate of Pine Bush High School.

Air Force Airman Florencia Jean-Charles graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Yvette Jean-Charles of Middletown and niece of Jean Tondreau of Spring Valley. She is a 2007 graduate of Middletown High School.

Air Force Airman Christopher J. Brady graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Christopher Brady Sr. of Walden and is a 2009 graduate of Valley Central High School, Montgomery.

Air National Guard Airman James A. Parla graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Paula Parla of New Paltz and is a 2010 graduate of New Paltz High School.

Air National Guard Airman Eric W. Durland graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Carolyn Durland of Chester and Stuart Durland of Sugar Loaf and is a 2009 graduate of Warwick Valley High School.

Army Reserve Pfc. Bryan J. Smith has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Bryan Smith of Washingtonville and is a 2007 graduate of Washingtonville High School.

Air Force Airman Brittney L. Morse graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Thomas Morse of Wurtsboro and Debra Morse of Pine Bush and is a 2006 graduate of Monticello High School.
