Being tired and achy during a cleansing diet is normal, right?

Just curious to hear from others that may have done a cleansing diet…I'm only on my second full day but I feel really tired and achy. I figure this is just sort of a healing crisis, where all the toxins and junk are being released and pushed through my body.

What has anyone else experienced? Is this reaction normal and expected?

Yes, depending on what your taking/doing to cleanse your body

It is normal, chances are your going to feel much worse too if its only your 2nd day. I know that will make your day :) .

Its your body getting rid of all the toxins & junk so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

My friend though did one a few years ago & got really stomach sick (vomiting, etc). Her doctor said it was how she reacted to it–hopefully you don't get like that–she was told to just treat it like the flu & to stop the detox right away until she got better.

So she took a 2 week break & started over again about a month or so later.

I've been on the Isagenix cleanse and haven't had the achy feeling, but do occasionally feel tired – remember your body is working very hard right now as you are most likely making some major changes to it's fuel source as well as flushing the system.

I think the reaction is normal, my coach had suggested that on days when I'm really feeling tired to add a bit of the "Want More Energy" powder to my cleanse drink. It certainly livens the taste and does help me feel a bit more charged.

You should also check with your cleansing coach (assuming you have one) to review any symptoms and possible adjustments to your program.

Yes it is. Drink water a few times a day. Don't over do anything and rest as much as you can.

If you get worried see a doctor. I prefer wholistic doctors. Just don't take chances with your health. Cleansing is inportant and it can be quite disgusting but it gets better.

Yes. Your blood sugar is low and you feel weakened, especially during the first cleanse. It gets better and easier with more cleansing, fasting, etc. Is there any way you can stay home or really limit your activities? You can try a morning smoothie and have it again around 2 or 3 to keep you going. I used two tbls. of LifeSource Liquid vitamins, one tbls. of Flax Oil, 1/3 of a banana, 1/2 cup of grape juice (I used a handful of grapes, not bottled juice), blended together. It kept me going and still getting cleansed. Don't make yourself sick. Any little bit you take in can help you feel a little energized. Just stay focused and be smart. You're going to benefit so much!

"Toxins" are a bunch of bologne. You are tired because you are not getting the food your body is used to. Your body will get rid of toxins through your bio-waste (urine, sweat, etc.).

I haven't done this kind of thing but having been in the medical profession now for over 30yrs I think I have enough knowledge to possibly help you.
One's body NEEDS certain nutrients to keep electrolytes in balance. Lack of some nutrients can definately cause some of the symptoms you are talking about and this is why it is NOT a good idea to do any kind of diet without first consulting a Dr.
People who also use these colon cleansing products face side effects by disturbing the normal absorbsion of needed nutrients that tend to be absorbed through the intestinal tract.
When one distrupts normal bodily functions/absorbsions etc they are lowering their own body's immune system and therefore can even get anything that is floating around in the air in the way of communicable diseases. . . ie: colds,flu etc.
Watch the symptoms that you mention and if they start to get worse and/or you start to feel weak and/or start a fever,you had better STOP your diet and possibly see a Dr.

I just finished a cleanse, and unfourtunately it is normal to feel really yucky for the first few days…for exactly the reasons you stated. My cleanse was the first one I have ever done, so I felt really bad. To get through it, I drank alot of water. I did a long cleanse, so the first few days were hard, and then I hit a rough patch at around 16 days again. I am spiritual, so praying helped me. However, if you feel really crappy beyong 4 or 5 days, you should re-evaluate what you're doing…it could be that you are getting a virus, or your body is releasing toxins too quickly. If this is the case, you should go to a doctor and get checked out.
Good news, though: after the first few days, you should start feeling better. I did. And, after the first cleanse, the next ones are supposedly easier, because most people who cleanse start taking better care of themselves in between cleansing periods. Good luck!
