Question about Dulcolax?
I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy next week, and part of the preparation is to clean out my system. The instructions tell me to start the morning before by taking FOUR Dulcolax pills. From what I hear, just taking one causes severe cramping and nausea…I can't imagine taking four. So my question is, has anyone else had problems with cramping, nausea and vomiting while taking this drug? Should I ask the office if there's an alternative? I don't want to be horribly sick on the toilet for hours.
Oh, and the rest of the prep calls for two separate doses of Fleet Phospho-soda with 8, 8oz glasses of water. This is not looking good…
One ducolax shouldn't cause sever cramping and nausea. I get cramps if I take 2 though.The only laxative that has ever made me vomit was lactose. I remember it vividly…It wasn't pleasant!
I think your going to have some degree of cramping whatever they give you though because your bowel needs to be completely empty for the colonoscopy.
You could always ask for an enema….
if you want do the gallon of liquid,,,,i did that instead……..milder
There is no easy way to clean out your system. It involves living on the toilet for most of the day. Follow the doctor's instructions. Failure to do so may cause false test results. You do not want to have to repeat the procedure!!!
