Your Questions About Diverticulitis

Jenny asks…

Diverticulitis?

I am 36 years old and have dealt with severe diverticulitis for many years, since it is not common in younger people it was overlooked for a long time. I have been taking medication for about 8 years now to help control flare ups but I still have pain and other symptoms almost daily and they can come without warning and may last for an hour or two to all days and sometimes many days. I avoid foods known to irritate this but it is still a problem that affects my quality of life greatly. My question is does anyone know what I may be able to do to make this better. Thanks

Jill answers:

Betty asks…

diverticulitis?

what should you cut out of your diet and add to you diet if you have diverticulitis

Jill answers:

I had this as a child. It went undiagnosed and untreated for over a year. I was in excrutiating pain towards the end. By the time it was diagnosed, the Dr said I was a hairs breadth away from a full bowel resection and using a colastemy bag for the rest of my life.
What cured me??
… Mineral Oil
Take a teaspoon of Mineral Oil every night. If it cured a case as advanced as mine, it should whip you into shape in no time :)

Donna asks…

Can diverticulitis hurt in the left side at the bottom of the stomach?

I’ve been diagnosed with diverticulitis, and I’ve had it before, but it never hurt this bad under the stomach left rib area. It’s entirely on the left side, and hurts from front all the way to the back. I don’t have a gall bladder. When I was at the doctor’s today, it was just hurting in my left groin, and I felt bloated. Can diverticulitis cause pain on the left side just under the ribs and stomach?
I’m on an oral antibiotic starting this afternoon.

Jill answers:

It can. Diverticuli are more common on the lower left side, but can be anywhere in the colon. The colon goes from the lower right abdomen, up to the ribs on the right, across the belly and down to the left. You could have an infected diverticulum anywhere along that path.

Hope you feel better soon.

If things seem to be getting worse instead of better, call your doc.

David asks…

What do you do when you have Diverticulitis reoccurring with fast pulse and left side pain?

This is my second time having an attack. I’m 27 years old and was only diagnosed with Diverticulitis 3 months ago and have been having problems ever since. I finally felt almost completely better and now the symptoms started again. Stabbing pain in left side, diarrhea, but now I feel shaky and my heart is racing and I’m not sure what to do.

Jill answers:

If you are having stabbing pain you should see your doctor ASAP. My aunt was in and out of the hospital with diverticulitis, they gave her pain killers to diminish the pain and IV antibiotics to kill the infection in the pockets of her colon. I have Ulcerative colitis and take AloeElite and it healed me of my problem so I told my aunt about it and she has been well ever since I turned her on to this product. The AloeElite is all natural, has no negative side effects, it works and it heals.

Sharon asks…

What is the best alternitive medicine for a touch of diverticulitis?

What is the best alternitive medicine for a touch of diverticulitis with out using any doctor prescribed crap?

Jill answers:

It’s something to take seriously. For now, do as your doctor says, take the antibiotics if he/she recommends them. After this episode passes, look toward your log-term health; change your diet, slowly increase the amount of fiber, fruits, and vegetables in your diet. Your colon will thank you!
