stomach pain on right side of belly button?
my gf has a really sharp pain ons the right side of her stomach right next to her belly button and it hurts her like hell and it hurts her to breathe and she can barely move…anyone know anything we can do for right now? We can’t go to the doctor cus its too late and we can’t afford it and she’s not taking any meds or isnt doing any drugs or isnt pregnant or anything like that
PLZ HELP!!!
and no she’s not on her period either

Jill answers:
Sounds like some intestinal gas. Has she been constipated?
If you have a heating pad, place it on her stomach, on warm.
This is gonna sound weird but I learned it from a gastointestinal nurse….. Get a can of veggies or something, it doesn’t matter what….and gently roll back and forth over the area with the pain.
If that doesn’t help and she has been constipated then go get her some Miralax, it is the best OTC laxative. A little expensive but has no taste and works fast without cramping.
Good Luck! You are a good boyfriend!!

so today is july 11th, since fathers day i noticed i started getting upper stomach pains on and off but for the most part not extreme , the first thing that came to my mind was gallbladder possibly bc my dad is 1 of 7 5 out of the 7 of them gotten theirs removed and so has my brother and cousin and they get the right side stomach pain also just mine hasnt been extreme.. but mostly at night and yesterday morning and today i got a nose bleed im assuming thats nothing to do with the stomach pain just coninsidence and assuming bc of the first nose bleed maybe it didnt heal right (also i have allergies dunno if that has to do with it either)..i havent really gotten the stomach pain in like 2 days fathers day was the worst ive gotten it id probably say 7 outa 10 or 6.5 outa 10 10 being highest. but havent had it that bad..anyone know of any other possibilities what it could be? thanks!

*LISTEN, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT….GO HERE:
http://www.webmd.com/404?aspxerrorpath=/symptomchecker
THERE IS A SYMPTOM CHECKER, and you can input your symptoms, and a list of diagnoses will come up, if you have any questions, feel free to email me….I tried to do it for you, but there was a question of what type of pain was it, sharp, crampy, etc., so YOU, personally need to enter the symptoms that you’re experiencing….Best wishes!

Jill answers:
Your symptoms are unfortunately vague and common, meaning they could reflect a number of underlying conditions. Right side pain could indicate problems with the liver, kidney or intestines.
It seems that you have ruled out kidney stones – the ultrasound “should” have found them. However, stones can continue to grow, and they may have been too small when you had the ultrasound. CT is probably a better choice as it has higher resolution and can detect a smaller stone that could still cause problems. With the kidney, you want to make sure the ureter is not obstructed and the kidney is healthy. So this should be one thing to have re-checked, particularly if you haven’t had an imaging exam in a few months. You can also have blood and urine tests to help determine if you are likely to be precipitating stones. The urinalysis should also help rule out bladder or kidney infection.
The intestine could be a source of the pain. Because you feel tired, you might have some chronic inflammation. Colonoscopy should have ruled out ulcerative colitis, but might not reach far up enough to detect Crohn disease or celiac disease. You would probably know if you had either of these because you would have gas, pain, cramps and diarrhea. Another possibility is irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), so if you have constipation or diarrhea, this is something to check out. To rule out the inflammatory bowel diseases, have an upper GI with small bowel follow-through. This barium X-ray study will allow the doctor to detect abnormalities that can’t be seen with endoscopy. Another possibility is camera endoscopy – you swallow a small camera in a capsule and it takes pictures of your intestine as it moves through.
The last possibility is liver problems. General malaise, perhaps occasional fevers, could indicate a number of things. Most likely is a virus like hepatitis, with a parasitic infection fairly low on the list (unless you camp in the wilderness or travel to exotic locales). An infectious disease specialist or a tropical medicine specialist might be the key to solving the problem if it is in the liver.
So, least invasive would be imaging studies to rule out kidney and intestine problems. Next would be blood samples and liver biopsy to check out liver functions.
Good luck, and please don’t let this linger. It is not normal, and you should press your doctors to pursue the answer.
