My brother chooses not to have a colonopscopy because he fears the preparation will affect the fribulation of his heart? Is this possible?

The Doctors should go over the likelyhood of something like that happening with him before the procedure, but they need to know about it. Fibrillation, depending on where it happens in the heart, can be very serious. He should be aware of the possible dangers especially if he's had some heart issues in the past.
I personally think that you should talk with your brother more in depth about it. The risk of not going through with a colonoscopy vs atrial fibrillation. All in all the Colonoscopy should only improve his medical state.
If he gets severely dehydrated, there is a small chance that his cardiac status could worsen.
If he fails to have a colonoscopy and grows a tumor, the chance that he'll have cardiac problems during his colectomy and chemotherapy are much greater.
Sounds like he's looking for an excuse to wimp out.
