Fish dinner fundraiser

Greenville AARP Chapter 2016 will hold its annual fish dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Building, corner of Skinner and Chestnut streets. The cost is $6. Five or more dinners can be delivered. For more information or delivery, call 367-7888 or 714-5859.

The EastCoast Pacific Islanders Club will host a Zumbathon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 621 W. Fire Tower Road. There also will be games, a health fair and refreshments. Dress in purple and gold Pirate gear. The cost is $10 per adult and; $5 per child age 12 and younger. Proceeds will be donated to a local colon cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy and to the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center.

Market benefit event

The Creative Market is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church South Annex building to benefit the Beaus Buddies Cancer Fund. A Walk for a Free Palestine is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Pitt County Courthouse. The second annual event is sponsored by the American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights and are silent marches on behalf of an equitable U.S. policy that advances freedom and equality for Palestinian people. Author Pamela Teel Tuck of Boyertown, Pa., will hold a book signing from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Parker’s Barbecue on Memorial Drive. A native of Greenville, she wrote “Color Struck,” about a matriarch who refused to let the “color issue” tear her family apart, and the children’s book “The Adventure of Sheldon the Mushroom,” a story of friendships and accepting others despite differences. Tuck received the 2007 New Voices Award from Lee & Low Books of New York for her upcoming picture book, “As Fast As Words Could Fly.” Her books are available at www.pamelamtuck.com. A Time for Science will hold a Family Fun Day from 9-11 a.m. Saturday with a guided nature walk through a portion of the Bray Hollow Conservancy near Ayden, followed by a stick bugs craft. The cost is $4 for adults and; $2 for children age 13 and younger with a maximum family charge of $12. A parent/guardian must attend with each family group.
