Your Questions About Milk Of Magnesia Cleanse

Sandra asks…

Can you do a “colon cleanse” by taking milk of magnesia for several consecutive days?

Jill answers:

Susan,

I followed a colon cleanse program that worked great. I posted information on what I did on my blog which you can read here:

http://www.squidoo.com/SuzanneGudakunstReview

Take a look and see if it can help you reach your goals.
Good luck to you,

Mandy asks…

milk of magnesia made run faster than ever!!!?

I took 3tblspoons yesterday and in an hour, i ran like the flash to the bathroom. Fast to get to the bathroom, but to slow to come out of there. lol. can you use milk of magnesia for weight loss and as a colon cleanse? Im jes wondering

Jill answers:

Milk of magnesia induces a chemical reaction that increases water in the intestines which may induce defecation. What you will find with prolonged use is that you will no longer be able to have a BM on your own, your body will be dependant on MOM. Having diarrhea may help you loose some water wieght initially..but the fat will remain, which is what you want to burn off for a long lasting solution.

Lizzie asks…

im still oily after using milk of magnesia?

hi i like that MOM tightens my pores but i still get greasy! it has 80 mg magnesium hydroxide but everywhere i looked none had 1200 mgnesium hydroxide. Mayeb thats the resaon?
I apply it after cleansing then apply sunscreen and foundation!. if i applied it before foundation and after sunscreen my foundation would look cakey! infact it sometimes already does !:)
HATE THE GREASE THAT accumulates during the day.

Jill answers:

9 out of 10 doctors will tell you that showers prevent being greasy.

Jenny asks…

Milk of magnesia skin question?

hi sohi i just bought the MOM but its not phillips and it says regular instead of original on the bottle. with 3 ingriedeints is that ok? There is magnesium hydroxide 80 mg, potassium sorbate and purified water. does that sound safe? and can i apply it after cleansing and then use sunscreen and foundation to protect my face. since im apply sunscreen on top will the effects still take place of the MOM. i have combo skin
THANKS!:)

Jill answers:

Milk of magnesia is a laxative… What does it do to your skin??

John asks…

How to get rid of really really really oily skin? (:?

I have mixed white & carribeaan skin that is soo oily its unbelievable! I use bare escentuals mineral powder foundation & I use a mud mask soap thing to cleanse my skin. I don’t over cleanse or anything & I have an oil free moisturiser. My skin is just naturally oily due to hormones & genetics. Is there anything I can do? & I’ve heard of this thing called Milk Of Magnesia. Does it work? & I LIVE IN THE UK, so I can’t visit sally beauty or anything. Thanks in advance (:

Jill answers:

Your Questions About Natural Colon Cleansing

Daniel asks…

Is there a way to do a more natural colon cleansing without having to buy these expensive products?

and get the same results?

Jill answers:

Absolutely! Eat more fiber.
No, it doesn’t have to be one of those nasty powders or expensive concoctions… Just eat more fruits, veggies, crackers, chips, cereal, pastas, breads, grains, etc. Sending more fiber through your digestive tract is basically what those expensive products do… They just use specific fibers. ;-)
It’s also a good idea to supplement with probiotics to help you keep regular and replenish anything that may have been pushed out. Good luck!

[edit]: Oh, and Castor Oil is NOT good to take internally unless it’s an emergency. It’s generally recommended for external use only because the BM that it forces is literally your body trying to purge it out because it doesn’t want it in there… That’s not healthy.

Mark asks…

Colon cleansing the natural way? Anyone have any experiences/ advice?

am talking about going to the health food store and buying those natural colon cleaners. When is a good age to do it and how often?

Jill answers:

The biggest effect of colon cleansing is on your wallet. They’re expensive, and they don’t do anything your body doesn’t already do.

If you want a healthy colon, eat a diet high in fiber and drink your recommended amount of water.

Laura asks…

Anyone got suggestions on an all natural colon cleansing and a nice detox.?

Jill answers:

Check out the following link. Compare ingredients. Check other sites for ratings as further comparison. Also, check out About.com. Good reading!

Joseph asks…

Natural Colon Cleansing?

apparantly, many people seem to look at colon cleansing as a way to loos weight, wich is not what im looking for. Im looking to cleanse my intestines/colon. does any one know of any cleansing formulas?

Jill answers:

I loved this. Don’t ask me why, but somehow I developed a taste for the stuff. Strange but true. I get a lot of strange looks, but I don’t care. It’s the lemonade diet. It works. You take water, real lemons, grade (a? B? Can’t remember but I’ll get you the link in a minute) maple syrup and cayenne pepper. You do some other stuff too. It sounds awful but it’s not. Here’s the link.

Do your research first, though. This may not be the best option for you. Explore your options and think before you start messing around with any diet. Consult your physician, too, just in case.

George asks…

colon cleansing, natural ways?

what is a natural and healthy way to do a colon cleanse? How often would i have to do it? Thanks in advance.

Jill answers:

A high-fiber diet is the most widely used remedy for colon and stool problems. Drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly also helps a lot.

While many people want to use laxatives, some would rather settle for natural-based medications to avoid digestive irritation and other side effects. You might want to take a look at this colon fix I’ve seen:

Your Questions About Colon Bag Surgery

Betty asks…

What should I expect after surgery?

My dad is going in for surgery to have his colon removed. He will have a bag on the outside.

Jill answers:

The medical part might be “easier” than the mental/emotional adapting to the colostomy bag.
He’ll be in the hospital for a few days after the surgery to make sure he’s doing well. He’ll take antibiotics for several weeks while the greater portion of the healing is going on. He’ll have regular check ups for maintenance of the colostomy and his general health.
If you are concerned with the emotional and mental thing, talk with the Dr about it. I am sure there are support groups and such for those who have colostomies as well as their families and those close to them. …I’ll leave a link to the ostomy association of ameria. It’s a good site with good info.
God Bless.

Maria asks…

Does anyone know if there is any real danger in taking stool softeners for a long period of time.?

I had colon surgery , had the colostomy bag for 4 months, then had the reconnection surgery. Have been taking stool softeners twice a day for several months now. I don’t like laxatives, but the softerners work well for me. What’s the danger if any. Serious answers only, please!!

Jill answers:

My uncle has been on them prescribed for like 12 years because of medical reasons. I’d imagine not unless they have addictive properties.

Mark asks…

Colon Cancer question: info please…?

A freind of my sister was just diagnosed with colon cancer. She is only 22 years old. She had the cancer removed, but after further test they said that she’ll have to have the entire colon removed because it spread to the colon walls.

What quality of life can she expect after the surgery? I know she’ll most likely have to have a bag for waste right? She has a 2 year old boy and wants to just give up on life and die. I haven’t seen her yet, but my sister talks to her alot. I feel she should want to stay around for her son, but I don’t know much about this kind of stuff. Also I don’t know what to say to her when I do see her. Any advice would be great. thanks.
She doesn’t even want to try the sugery, she wants to just die. But I feel bad for her baby to! My sister agrees with her! I’m trying to figure this out. I feel bad for her and her boy.

Jill answers:

She needs a friend right now. Don’t treat her any different than anyone else! I hated that when people did that to me. She will go through different stages while trying to grapple with this. Her doctor(s) will help her to understand what she will need and what she can expect. There is no reason why she couldn’t lead a normal life after the surgery. It also sounds like your sister is doing more harm than good. Some friend!

Mandy asks…

CEA test came back for my mom. Does she have cancer?

In 2005 she got surgery for colon cancer. Got a colostomy bag, all’s been fine since. Results from her CEA blood test were 100. The normal number is between zero and THREE. She has no symptoms, but what are the chances she has cancer..?

Jill answers:

This is something that should be explained by her oncologist. CEA is a tumor marker used to monitor treatment, a CEA of 100 is an indication of cancer, but it needs to be correlated with all other test results.

George asks…

endemetriosis?

i have severe endo and have to have surgery to try and seperate it it is all congeled together along with my bowels and bladder and i may have to have a colon bag what do i do

Jill answers:

I know quite a few people with a colon bag, it is unnoticable and they have benefited with them because in all cases their symptoms have been eased, my daughter’s 14 year old friend has one and also my husbands cousin, he is 23, both still young, but it doesn’t affect their daily lives, speak to your doctor for more imformation, good luck whatever you choose.

Your Questions About Gardners Syndrome

Betty asks…

Where can I find extensive information on Gardners syndrome?

It is possible that my husband has this syndrome and all the information I have found so far is vague.

Jill answers:

Gardner syndrome is a rare, inherited disorder characterized by multiple growths (polyps) in the colon (often 1,000 or more), extra teeth (supernumerary), bony tumors of the skull (osteomas), and fatty cysts and/or fibrous tumors in the skin (fibromas or epithelial cysts). Gardner syndrome is a variant of familial adenomatous polyposis, a rare group of disorders characterized by the growth of multiple polyps in the colon. Gardner syndrome is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait.

Good luck with this. I hope your husband does not have this disease.

Joseph asks…

why do they call it gardners syndrome?? please help!?

i know its called familil adenomateous polyposis
but where did the ”gardner” come from?
please i need it for a essay!

Jill answers:

The syndrome is named after the first investigator to describe the condition.

Donna asks…

does anyone know if the polyps in Gardner syndrome are usually deeper in the intestine and not near the colon?

A friend has cysts forming on his body that are forming at slightly rapid rate, and I have looked up these cysts could be caused by this disease. He has other problems, and I think it’s something more serious than just random cysts and red lesions. side note: checked for HIV, it was negative.

Jill answers:

The polyps from Gardner syndrome can occur anyplace in the intestine (small and large intestine) They have even occurred in the stomach.
This disease is hereditary and the patients suffering from this need to be closely monitored

James asks…

If my mom has Gardner’s Syndrome, but I don’t, what are the chances my kids will have it?

My mother has Gardner’s Syndrome, but I don’t. My father, nor anyone in his family has it either. I know that between them, I had a 50% chance of having it, so does that mean any children I have will have a 25% chance (saying my partner doesn’t have it)?

Jill answers:

Actually If I’m readying Wikipedia right Gardner’s Syndrome is a dominate gene. Which means if you have the gene you will have the symptoms of Gardner’s Syndrome.

That also means that if you don’t have any Gardner’s Syndrome symptoms then you don’t have the gene, and can’t possible pass it on to your child. Don’t take my word on this though; It may tern out I just don’t remember my genetics correctly ;)

Sharon asks…

What are my chances for getting pregnant?

I am 33, I have polycystic ovarian disease, Gardners syndrome, and no large intestine. As well as many surgeries to remove benign tumors. Can I or even should I get pregnant?

Jill answers:

I have PCOS as well. I would suggest you try naturally at first and consult an endocrinologist FIRST who would better know your options (they would more than likely put you on a fertility drug if natural doesn’t work). Really, at 33 you are pushing it. I went to my gyno and I’m 25 and she said I should start trying at least 2 years from now. She said for my health that I should have 2 kids before 30. It’s less chance of complications (which you can definitely have with fertility treatments…high chance of multiples).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colon_(anatomy)

Your butthole.

Daniel asks…

If your Colon is in pain, where do you usually feel it? Front or back?

Jill answers:

There is not usually referred pain with colon problems. However, if it is present it is right upper quadrant or epigastric.

David asks…

what is that procedure where you release toxins out of your body from your colon & how much does that ?

procedure cost in a state like tennessee

Jill answers:

Colon cleansing and it’s quite a popular thing nowadays. You could probably go into GNC, or similar natural health place, and pick up an at home kit for around $25.

Ruth asks…

where are some good places in dallas to go to get your colon cleansed?

do they both get the job done, job meaning i want to lose some stomach weight…because if the pills do, then thats fine

Jill answers:

A colonoscopy or just a colon cleanse? Because a colon cleanse you can get from a pharmacy, a Eppoduril may need a prescription though, call & see. This you do yourself.

Good Luck,
Summer
