Scientists Grow Artificial Intestine
A group of researchers at the Saban Research Institute of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles were successfully able to create and install a tissue engineered intestine in laboratory mice.
First they took cells from living mice intestines including cells from all the normal layers of the intestine including the muscle cells responsible for peristalsis or movement, and the lining or endothelial cells responsible for absorption of nutrients.
Next an artificial scaffolding made out of biodegradable polymers was installed in mice.
Finally the harvested cells were transplanted onto the scaffolding.
Over time those cells replicated and produced a new engineered intestine consisting of all the necessary cell types.
“We demonstrated that we are providing all of the important cells—the muscle, nerve, epithelium, and some of the blood vessels,” Frédéric Sala, PhD, lead author told reporters. “All of these are critical to proper functioning of the tissue, and now we know their origins.”
Scientists have already been able to recreate functioning ureters that have been used in patients, and other organs including heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys are being artificially engineered in experiments.
One day perhaps before long, failed organs will be replaced by newly engineered ones made from a patients own cells using these techniques.

Hi, quick question about alcohol and medicine.
If a person is a social drinker and consumes a maximum of say, eight units a week, can his/her liver deal it and not sustain any damage? My knowledge of medical science is somewhat limited, but I believe I am correct in saying that the Liver is designed to absorb and detox ingested poisons (acids, drugs, alcohol etc)? What is the limit that the liver will become overwhelmed and start to actually take damage?
Thanks in advance

As far as I can tell, there doesn’t appear to be any legitimate research done on this product, but it is unlikely that they are effective, as is typical when something has this much marketing behind it and no formal research.Their website just cites testimonials, one of which references an article in the Journal of Immunity, which despite its name is not an actual medical journal, and is actually another compilation of testimonials.A little research into how the body detoxifies (the liver) will tell you that the whole idea of removing “toxins,” “parasites,” and even “cellulite” from the bottom of the feet is completely false. The surface of the pad picks up dead skin and dirt, and a chemical on the pad ensures the color. Repeated use of this pad will clean your feet, but nothing else. It is known that when water is applied to the pad, it will turn brown. It may be only affective is slowly hindering the sweat glands in the feet over time. It would be an explanation for the lightening each day.

I am a tea drinker and recently got some Detox tea that has 10 different Chinease healing herbs and I am curious if this stuff also rids your system of antidepressent medicine at all? Obviously, that's not what I want it to do, I just want to rid my system of everday toxins. Thanks for any info!
I say drink 2g and your cool forever
LOL "Detox" drinks, including teas, are all HYPE.
They don't do a damn thing, except detox your WALLET of all its money.
Herbs are a waste of time.
NOTHING you put in your mouth affects the detox of illegal drugs (or legal drugs, for that matter) AT ALL.
The liver does detox, NOT the kidneys. What you put in your mouth ONLY affects the kidneys, making you pee more.
Have a nice day.
Detox tea doesn't "strip out" anything, including the stuff it claims. Everyday toxins are cleared by the various organs in your body without your having to do anything special.

They did it on LA Ink before.
I'm thinking about doing this, just for a fresh start to the new year. I'm not trying to lose weight – just trying to detoxify myself and be healthier. Anyone ever done something like this? What was it like?
well from what i heard the master cleanse is super bad and makes u really irratable..so u might want to think about that b4 u do it…
Oh my I do this as a type of spring cleaning each year. It is great! The master cleanser is the one that I always do. It is hte maple syrup, lemon juice, and cayen pepper. It is like a tangy lemonade. It is so good. However, the first two days are rough. You will get a bad headache for sure. But stick with it it goes away and you will feel great come day ten. But….do not leave your house to early after drinking warm salt water. Trust me I had to throw away a pair of favorite jeands because I left to early and did not make it to a bathroom! So I would recommend doing this when you are not pressed for time, and you do not have to work hard. At the end of the week I did have allot of energy though!
Try it out the health benefits are awesome!
First, rid yourself of the concept of "toxins." That is pseudoscience mumbo jumbo. Your liver is the most efficient cleanser in the spiral galaxy.
Eating better, maybe incorporating fresh juices, avoiding refined sugar, flour, dairy, and meat, is, in general, a fantastic idea. You WILL feel better (especially if you engage in regular exercise), you WILL lose weight, and you will be in a better mood.
The problem with the the cult of "detox" is that it temporary. What do you do after a week of disgusting wheat barely and cucumber juice? You go back to Taco Bell and cigarettes?
LA Ink, may not actually be the oracle of all knowledge.
I did the diet, but i changed it to ensure i had energy, only lemon juice, water and sugar, so i guess you can call it normal lemonade…anywho i'll tell you what i always tell people who ask about this diet
plan a day that you want to start the cleanse…and three days before that day try to pull away from food…like on the first day eat 3 little meals and then the 2nd day eat two little meals and so on…and then by the time you are ready to start the cleanse you'll be a little more adjusted, on the first day of the actual cleanse you might eat a couple chips or something just to help you along…the first day is the hardest, you might think about food, its all a mind thing, also you dont know if you'll feel weak so reserve a few days to devote the fasting to see how you'll react, i actually had a lot of energy, but that could be because i changed the diet, but i really like the diet i did it for 4 days and lost 5 lbs, and it hasnt came back, so good luck to ya!o and i didnt go that salt thing that someone mentioned, i never heard of that
GO FOR IT! i'm on it now and i've lost 10 lbs in 5 days! you'll be really energized, sleep better, most of all "YOU WILL NOT BE HUNGRY". I dont get why some critics that have never in their life tried it get on tv and start talking about how your gonna starve yourself. well you're not. this will definetly open doors for you. my goal is to lose 10 more lbs so that when i'm off this detoxification process it will be easier for me to lose the weight
