What vitamins promote muscle growth/weight loss?

i've been looking into purchasing vitamins to boost muscle building/weight loss
im not looking for any extremes–so no protein shakes for body builders or detox crap for weight loss
i need specifics like Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, etc and what each one is for and how much is good for aan average 18yo

Your focus is a little off.

Promoting muscle growth comes from challenging your muscles to work harder than they are able. In other words: hard bloody work. Vitamins do not *PROMOTE* growth. Sure, vitamins help create a proper environment so the can grow properly and I know you said you don't want "protein shakes", but the reason why body builders take them is because PROTEIN builds and repairs muscle.

Now, if you'd like particulars, Vitamin B12 helps in the proper digestion of the protein etc.. But The nutrient that builds and repairs muscle is protein. Period. (Keep in mind, just having protein without doing exercises or working your muscles means you'll have unused protein sitting in your GI tract and when that happens: I hope you like farting. I'm serious.)

Promoting weight loss comes from a high metabolism (enter muscle building and healthy cardio vascular system) and eating healthy. Sure you can buy "fat burners" etc from the health food store, but those aren't vitamins. Vitamins help supplement the vitamins your body needs. That's it. If you take too much Vitamin C or B, you'll pee it out, Too much of A, E, D or K, your body will store it in fat.

For muscle growth: It's time to hit the gym my friend.
