Why do I have MORE acne if I'm detoxing?

I did a few things to make myself healthier in the past 2 weeks… both emotionally and physically and also to clear acne. It feels like my acne is WORSE though!
So…
before I was binge drinking 1-2 days a week, smoking ciggarettes and occasionally doing drugs. Also, my diet was okay… but it did involve wheat, white breads, sugar, etc.
I've been reading up on natural ways to cure acne (I want to avoid harsh chemicals I've used in the past) and they really emphasize how certain foods can aggrevate acne such as wheat, sugar etc. Also they discuss how its the skin removing toxins and also how acne is an indication of the liver being overloaded.

In the past 14 days, I've eliminated alcohol, ciggarettes and drugs while also eliminating wheat (except for these whole wheat fruit muffins), have been drinking a ton of herbals teas, water with lemon, vegetables fruits, brown rice, tofu etc.
In addition to this I've been taking cleansing pills to flush my system/colon of toxins.
I expected this to improve my skin… it feels like its worse though! I'm getting cystic acne on my chin.
Does anyone know why this is? Am I just detoxing and it will go away? Or what is going on?
Also, I'm on my second month of ortho tricyclen birth control (I was on yasmin before)… which is intended for clearing skin.
But new zits seem to appear every day! :( Cystic ones that are hard to get rid of.
What are your opinions?
I've also been doing hot yoga which I thought would detox me but maybe is clogging my pores (even though I thoroughly shower after)
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
I'm confused… a big lifestyle change with no improvement; maybe I'm impatient… because its only been 2 weeks.

Did your doctor prescribe these de-toxifying pills or did you just walk into a health store and buy them without having received adequate medical advice?

When you were born, you had two organs specifically designed to detoxify your body; your liver and your kidneys. You DO NOT NEED to take any silly pills to 'cleanse' your body. Whoever sold you those pills had only their profit margins in mind – not your health.

All of these strategies you're employing, though certainly healthier for your mind and body, will not cleanse your body of any toxins. If you are developing worsening acne, you ought to go and visit your doctor – you know, the one who went to medical school and learned the science of health. The genuine, real science and not the airy fairy frou frou nonsense of pills to cleanse one's colon. Real doctors would not suggest such things.

Keep up eating a balanced diet, getting proper regular exercise, a good night's sleep (that always helps), drinking sufficient water daily (no, not several dozen litres per day – that isn't necessary either), not smoking, not drinking alcoholically and not partaking in any illicit drugs. All of those strategies are helpful. Stay away from those stupid pill things. They are not necessary and only serve to make your wallet lighter.

As for things like binge drinking; for that counselling may help you there. Check the yellow pages. Expect to pay for counselling sessions but if you're taking such better care of your body these days, taking extra care of your emotions would be a good next step. Seriously.

It just your body flushing out the toxins, I think its a good sign of things to come. Once the flush of these chemicals commences then your skin should get quite a bit better.
I took a drug to clear my acne and they said your skin gets worse for the first month so i think the same thing is happening hear

  • I’m no longer certain the place you’re getting your information, but great topic. I needs to spend some time finding out more or working out more. Thanks for excellent information I used to be in search of this info for my mission.

  • Good evening! That is very fantastic text. Check my private site. I believe It is too level.

  • Mike,
your question is a fair one when I read through that blog, it seemed that there were some good responses from actual reps that were following the program and having consistent success. It’s easy for me to say that all of those comments are fabricated, but I think if you look at the site as a whole, you certainly see some folks “sour-graping” it, but you also see actual reps saying, “hey, I did (or am doing it) and it’s working great!” I think there’s always uncertainty in sales, but if you’ve been successful in the past sales efforts, your success should certainly continue with ABN. If you have consistently struggled with the whole Sales gig, then this is probably not the best avenue for you. This is very real sales with a need for good communicators that see the opportunity. I hope that helps, thanks for your honest question! ~ Chris
